The officer was commissioned in Indian Navy on 2011 and his tryst with running started with Vasai Virar Mayors Marathon-15 in a bid to qualify for Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon-16. Since then he has completed over 35 plus marathons/ half marathons across the country.
Inspired by Indian Navy’s first Ultra Marathon team, he graduated to running Ultra distances and participated in his first Ultra Marathon, Run the Rann – 18 (101 kms). Subsequently, he went onto complete three more ultras in 2018, BNP Ultra (50 kms), La Ultra (111 kms) and Malnad Ultra (110 kms). He attributes his success to seniors and peers within the running community of Indian Navy, for being a source of inspiration and nurturing, training a novice into an ultra runner.
He has experienced his fair share of DNFs in ultras like Vagamon Ultra, Mozart 100 and Laverado Ultratrail but his believe in “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm” – by Winston Churchill has ensured that he keeps going and in the process has secured some top 10 finishes in ultras like Deccan Ultra (75 km), BNP Ultra (50 km), Matheran Endurathon (60 km).
Being paced at previous two editions of WNC Navy half marathon (21 kms), he will be back inspiring fellow runners and learning from them.
