Sanjay Kumar, an Electrical Artificer, joined the Indian Navy in July 2010 and has served in several frontline warships. He started his running journey with Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon in January 2015 by running 42 Km full marathon. He also participated in the next three editions of the race in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
His first Ultra Marathon attempt was the “Run of Kutch” 100 Km race from Lakhpat to Dhorodo in February 2016, which he conquered successfully, securing sixth position. He has achieved podium finishes in Baisakhi Challenge held in Punjab, 2nd Gurugram Half Marathon and Summer Run Ultra 30 Km run by standing first in all the three races.
He has taken part in over 100+ marathons since January 2015. He has completed 100 days running challenge and covered a distance of 2595 Km conducted from 28 Apr to 05 Aug 18.
Sanjay Kumar has also participated in India’s toughest and world’s cruelest ‘La ultra Marathon’ in Aug 2018. He has won Hell Race 211 Km on Manali-Leh highway held on 15 – 23 June 2019 and set a new course record with a timing of 28 hr 45 min 12 sec beating the previous record of 35 hours by David Cole from Australia. He also holds a national record for completing Mumbai to Goa chase of 600 Km in 40hr 04 min by 8 runners in relay format.We hail this indefatigable Sea Warrior!
